Coating Floors in the Jocko Valley
Arlee sits in the Jocko Valley on the Flathead Reservation, and the epoxy flooring jobs we do here are as varied as the properties. Some are attached garages in town. Others are shops and outbuildings on land along the Jocko River. A few are floors in small businesses on US 93. Each one starts the same way: we look at the concrete, test it and tell you what it needs.
Getting here and getting it done
Arlee is 17 miles north of I-90 at Wye on US 93, which is four lanes through town, and Montana Highway 200 runs through the community too. That makes it an easy drive from Missoula for us. We still plan carefully so prep, repair and coating happen in a tight schedule, especially in summer when curing conditions are best.
Summer is the busy season
The Arlee Rodeo and Pow Wow takes place over the Fourth of July weekend, and the community also holds its summer pow wow, the Arlee Esyapqeyni. Summer is also when concrete is warmest and coatings cure most reliably. If you are hoping to have a garage or shop finished before a busy stretch, let us know early. We will work out a date that gives the floor time to cure before you need it for parking or gear.
Matching the system to the floor
Garage floor coating. For a car or truck garage, we grind the slab, fill cracks and lay down a base coat, color layer and topcoat. Many people here choose epoxy flake floors, because the chips hide valley dust and dried mud between washings.
Polyaspartic floor coating. A UV-stable, fast-curing topcoat. It is useful when you need the space back quickly or when the door stays open to the sun.
Basement floor epoxy. For lower levels used as laundry rooms, storage or living space. We check the slab for moisture before choosing a primer.
Shop and commercial floor epoxy. For workshops, equipment buildings and business floors that see heavy traffic, fuel and chemicals.
Concrete crack and floor repair. Cracked, pitted or chipped concrete gets fixed before it is coated, so the damage does not telegraph through.
Older slabs need extra attention
Arlee's town and post office were established in 1885, and the 2000 census counted 268 housing units here. Older garages and outbuildings in the area may have uneven or patched concrete, old paint or years of oil. We grind down to sound material and repair the damage. If a slab has problems no coating can fix, such as water coming through a crack or a section that has heaved, we will say so before you commit. In a busy stretch like that, a faster-curing polyaspartic topcoat can be the difference between parking inside on the holiday weekend and parking in the driveway.
Taking care of the finished floor
A coated floor is easy to keep up. Sweep away dust and gravel before it gets ground in under tires. Rinse off mud and dried snowmelt with water and a mild cleaner. Put a pad under kickstands and jack stands so a point load does not dent the surface. Wipe up fuel and oil spills when you see them. Done regularly, those steps keep the topcoat looking clean for years and make the next deep clean faster.
